The Studio, part of central Bradford’s magnificent Alhambra Theatre complex, is a flexible, multi-purpose space that can accommodate audiences of up to 300. Bradford Theatres also use it regularly for workshops, educational activities and rehearsals and it also hosts small scale theatre, cabaret, rehearsals, meetings, conferences and exhibitions, many of which use the in-house hospitality service which can cater for up to 140 people in this space.
(PAS editor’s note – As an aside, we held one of our Meyer Sound educational seminars here a couple of years ago and it was brilliant!)
Like any multi-purpose space the in-house sound reinforcement system has to be able to handle many things well. As part of an ongoing refurbishment programme, the theatre has just purchased two EM Acoustics EMS118 subwoofers and a Crest CC5500 amplifier to drive them. Pro Audio Systems were asked to recommend replacements for the existing (12′ driver) subs, specifically something of much better quality and with a lot more impact.
Chris Barlow (Technical Electrics Manager for Bradford Theatres) said, ‘Having worked with Pro Audio for a number of years now, and having EM Acoustics equipment already in one of our other venues, it was the natural choice when Pro Audio recommended them for our Studio space’.
